Repurposed: Tablecloth Skirt

Last week a friend of mine, Kat, gave me a bag of tablecloths. One floral tablecloth she bought for herself, and then realized it would make a cute dress/skirt, so she gave it to me. You'll probably being seeing that one soon ...

In the bag was this harvest gold tablecloth with a lace edge. As soon as I saw it, the wheels in my brain started turning. In the end, it became a skirt. Simplicity 5505, to be exact. The skirt, which says takes two hours, took 20-25 minutes, because I didn't have to hem it. It only required a quick sew up the side seams and a casing for the elastic waistband. Easy peasy. And, had I listened to the little voice inside my head that said, "Check the tension on the serger before you start, Lera" it may have taken less time. And, had I listened to that same little voice yesterday morning that said, "Turn the crock pot on high for now and then turn it back to low," my dinner may have been done at dinner time and not bedtime.

Lol! Ahh, that little know-all voice! Do we ever listen? Cute skirt!

We should ALWAYS listen to that voice but we rarely do.

And I can't believe that skirt used to be a tablecloth. Awesome!

Love that adorable skirt.

Oh, THAT voice. Yeah, it gets ignored here, too. Mine usually whispers, "be careful trimming that seam with the pinking shears..."

cute skirt, btw. ;)

Oh...I LOVE that skirt! And my crockpot meal? It was tasteless and overdone. Maybe we need to combine our crockpots and the meal will come out edible? Mine always always always cooks too hot, too fast (and it was on LOW!!)

Love, love the skirt. MMmmm...and my voice always says things like, sure you can make an entire quilt in an afternoon...go for it! And then it takes months to finish of course.

that is a fabulous skirt! and the no hemming is a bonus.

i've done that with the crock pot before, too. isn't that so frustrating?

Oh, you are a crafty gal, Ms. Lera. Cute skirt.

And, I feel your pain on the crockpot thing. I've learned that "Low" on mine means "OFF. So sad to have a pork roast still icy when you come home from work. Boo.

Great repurposed skirt. I'm certain that I have thrifted that very tablecloth and a set of napkins to match. If it was in any way stained, I would immediately make my own skirt to match yours ;)
