Trying Something New

The air has turned cooler. And this non-coffee drinker was looking for new options. Apparently, so was my mother. A few weeks ago she ran into the store to buy some herb tea and stumbled upon her friend who was buying herb tea. Her friend recommended rooibus (pronounced "roy-boss"). My mother loved it. And then my search to find it was on. I went to five different stores before I found it. And, let me tell you, it was worth the wait. And I'm so happy that I like it, because I bought four boxes.

I always like to try new things, but I am often hesitant to go out of my comfort zone. So, tell me, what new things are you trying?

(And for your laughing pleasure: This morning I threw a tee shirt on after my shower so I could pack lunches. When I went upstairs "to get dressed," I put my bra on over my tee. I seriously do not know what I was thinking, except that I was totally not thinking. And Saturday at soccer Sawyer had to go potty. Even though there are port-a-pots, I told him to go behind a tree near the weeds. A few minutes later he emerged and put his fingers on my chin. I noticed they were wet! I shrieked, "get your fingers off my chin" in my shrill, loud voice. Which gained a lot of unwanted attention. Everyone looked at me as if I were a bad mother. I quietly explained to the people sitting directly next to me that he had just gone to the bathroom and his fingers were wet. That's the life, I tell ya. Pee on my chin.)

The rooibos tea that I like is Celestial Seasonings "Madagascar Vanilla Red". So yummy!

I'm really laughing at the bra over the tshirt. How funny. Sounds like something I would do. :o)

It is great tea. I love Rooibos. It is from South Africa and is naturally decaffeinated. And I like that there is a hint of licorice to the taste.

My husband had one of those moments this morning. He got up and went to get his uniform from the dryer. Instead of opening the dryer and reaching in, he opened the toilet and reached in!! LMBO!! I too don't drink coffee, but with all those tasty looking flavored coffee creamers...I'm thinking about it!

I love Rooibos! It's more common over here now, but I used to have to import mine from Germany!

I first found out about rooibos tea from the book series, "The Number One Ladies' Detective Agency" by Alexander McCall Smith. The stories take place in Botswana and they drink tons of the tea. (Recommended reading) I drink it and it's supposed to be full of antioxidants.

I don't drink coffee either. I love to drink earl grey in the winter, but usually its plain old tetley.

Mmm...I have to tell you, Lo Gung is a HUGE fan of Rooibos tea. He, growing up in Hong Kong, learned to drink tea almost as soon as he could walk. When he got baptized, I think it's one of the things he misses. Rooibos fills the void!

(Oh, and there's an AWESOME Rooibos Chai mix that you can find sometimes. The normal box is purple, and has black tea. The one we buy is red. Om nom nom.)

So, tell me what this tea tastes like, missy!

I'm a non-coffee drinker, too, and am always in the market for a new tea.

Is it an herbal? Caffeinated? (Although I assume not)

Also, I can't imagine how you could not scream. No one needs pee on their face.

I first had Rooibos in South Africa 6 years ago(where it comes from, the name means Red Bush) and thought I'd never see it again. I brought home a ton. I shrieked when I saw it in Giant about 3 months ago. I still haven't tried it yet because I'm afraid it won't be the same. It's the best with a touch of whole milk and sugar. Or a great creamer. But go THICK. Mmmm. Comfort food.

To those who have asked, it's a very earthy flavor. It's actually from the bark, not the leaves of the bush. It's reddish brown, and tastes like...reddish brown. It doesn't really float in your nose like other herbs. I call it a smooth flavor.

As for the wet hands... so this is what I have to look forward to with a boy, huh? :)
