Curlers in Your Hair ... Shame on You

So Spenser always wants curly hair. Why is it that you really covet something that you just don't have?

I keep telling Spenser that her hair will be plenty curly after she has babies, but, at six, she is too impatient for that day to come.

So, for now, we will put (foam) curlers in her hair. And wait until the next morning to see if it works.

And, after it worked for church yesterday, she wanted to try it again. So ...

we did it again. This time she wore her mob cap to help keep the curlers in place.

And it worked like a charm!

(Does anyone remember the 1970's jingle Curlers in your hair, shame on you? I don't remember the jingle, but I remember my mother saying it to us when we put the hard, plastic curlers in our hair when we were little. And, just for the heck of it, I said to to Spenser when I put them in her hair.)

Adorable! I always wanted curls too, and I remember my mom putting "pin curls" in my hair at night.

Lily wants curly hair so bad - always has! To make matters worse, Ava does have curly hair and hates it. Go figure!
Spencer looks adorable :)

I remember that jingle! It was an ad for the Kindness 20 heated roller set. All the rage at the time! Spenser is getting so big! And cuter by the day!

Oh, I hear her. All my childhood I wanted curly hair and I have THE straightest WILL NOT CURL NO MATTER WHAT hair.

I was so happy to see that with curlers her hair WILL curl. And it look absolutely darling.

And now I'm jealous of a little girl. Apologies ;)

I'm old enough to remember my mom making pincurls in my hair. You wind the hair around your finger, press it flat against your head, and secure with two bobby pins criss-cross. That wasn't too bad to sleep on, but later the brush rollers were pure torture! Then in the 60's the girls saved those small orange juice cans to curl their hair-just enough for a pouf with a flip at the bottom. Now I wake up with bedhead and wash and blow dry. Much better!

my gran used to put my hair in rag curls - it was hard to sleep.

I should remember that but it didn't look familiar.
I love her hair curly. So adorable.

Precious! Oh the love/hate relationship I had with my pink sponge rollers. Never got a good night's sleep, but had bouncy, curly hair. Then I found hot rollers. I even took those to church camp weekend retreats. Where you hike a mile to the bathroom. But curly hair was a BIG deal in the 80's! ;)
