Getting Back to Normal

Today is the boys' first day back to school. While it's sad to see them go back (it means Christmas is officially over), it's also nice to get back into a routine. Each year over Christmas break I find myself loudly singing the line from It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas that says "And Mom and Dad can hardly wait for school to start again." This year, I don't remember doing that. It must have been a good break.

Saturday we decided to have one last hurrah with the kids. We took them to Home Depot for their children's workshop.

And went geocaching. (Someone placed two geocaches in our small town.)

And I did a little sewing. This little baby for a little baby that was born in August. And she will finally get her bib and burp cloth, too. (I'm a little behind ...)

But today I'm getting back to my routine. I ran. I'm on laundry load #2. I've taken down one Christmas tree (the last one is coming down today, too). I've taken down the Christmas lights from the front porch. I still have to take out the trash and mop the kitchen floor. And maybe vacuum a bit. Hmmm. Maybe I like staying out of my routine better.

* * * For the record: I ran 4 1/2 miles on Saturday night. * * *

Great job on running Laura. I haven't been motivated to exercise at all since getting the baby.
my kids start back to school tomorrow so this will be our last day of Christmas break. I always love having them home but, you're right, the routine is definitely different during vacations.

Here here for getting back to normal!!! I'm recovering from the sickest Christmas holiday ever.

Did Joe and the kids find the cache after all?? I think I need to go and do a little geo-stalking. :)

I was looking forward to getting back to normal today, but then my husband (aka He Who Never Takes Sick Days) got sick enough to stay home from work and took all the back-to-the-roots wind out of my sails. How inconsiderate! :)
I'll just have to work around him and around taking care of him...

that doll is so cute! i, for one, am excited about getting back to a routine. that being said, we did have a good break-it certainly ended more calmly than it started. and boy, am i thankful for that!

p.s. do you want some of my snow? i'd be happy to share some.

You're not the only one singing that line!

We did the Home Depot workshop on Saturday, too. For the first time in years. We made tool boxes, but we had the choice of doing those bookends, too.

Enjoy your routine today. :o)

Well done on the doll - great fabric choices.

I always enjoy your to-do/done lists because it helps me strive to accomplish more!
