Because You Asked

I know this is long in coming, but here we are in our Christmas outfits.

I found the pattern of this skirt a little confusing. And the sizing, on me, is all wrong. Eventually I will learn that I am not a medium. Or a large. I repositioned the buttons last night, and it's still too big. When I feel like removing and sewing five more buttons, I may attempt to reposition the buttons again. But that will be awhile.

* * * *
I wanted to leave you with a quote that has been running through my head since the new year began. It's one of my favorites and it's worth sharing.

"The world has enough women who are tough; we need women who are tender. There are enough women who are coarse; we need women who are kind. There are enough women who are rude; we need women who are refined. We have enough women of fame and fortune; we need more women of faith. We have enough greed; we need more goodness. We have enough vanity; we need more virtue. We have enough popularity; we need more purity."

I think I'll add this to my growing list of resolutions.

I am not a LDS (I am Catholic), but I find such comfort, such clarity in the words of Mrs. Nadauld... I believe it was your blog that quoted her before and I googled her after, reading as much as I could that night. I do believe she should be seen much like Mother Teresa, whom I also adore.
with that, once Mother Teresa was asked what everyday people could do to make the world a more peaceful place. Her reply? "Go home and love your families" how simple and true.

I for one am inspired by the quote you just shared. Thank you!

(oh, and the skirt! love it- too funny that you can't believe your size... I often have to return things after thinking of myself as preggo/postpreggo size- then realize its been a full year since I had a child! not sure how much longer my brain can process not being pregnant or nursing... hmmm.) :P

I'm so glad I asked. :o) I wanted to see what all those tucks and gathers look like. I really like the way it turned out!

And that quote is awesome. I really need to post it to my fridge or my mirror or something. I often have had times where it has run through my mind, too. Thank you for sharing.

Lera,
It is so sweet that Spenser wants to match Mommy. Love the skirt. I have seen a lot of people that made it around bloggy land remarking it is too big on them. I love the color of yours.

P.S. Hope you are able to stretch the contents of your recent package. :O)

I LOVE the skirt! You always do such a great job.

I could've told you were not a large or a medium just by looking at your pictures.

Love the quote!

You both look beautiful in your new holiday clothes. I love the skirt and I think the buttons look great as they are.

And, that IS a great quote. I think I need to think about it.

Adorable. Really.

You and skirt sizing. You'd think that by now you'd have it down! Silly girl.

But seriously, what an adorable photo. xo

Yay! I'm so glad you posted the skirt. It looks gorgeous even if it doesn't fit right! That's why I never make clothes for myself. I can never get the sizing right!
