More Grocery Totes

After making my last set of grocery totes, I soon realized that I might not have enough for larger trips to the store. I really tried to keep my spending and buying limited to four bags, but with a large family, it meant I had to make more return trips to the store. Which meant I usually picked up something (or many somethings) extra, that I really didn't need.

"If I had more bags," I thought, "I wouldn't have to come to the store as often." Even though I'm in town twice a week to take Spenser to preschool and almost never go into town just for the sake of going to the store (unless it's payday and a weekend is ahead, then I make the exception).

Anyway, I needed more bags and they are easy enough and cheap enough. I bought the canvas bags right at Walmart (I think three for $6 or so) and even the Heat 'N Bond came from Walmart. And we don't have a fancy Walmart. And we don't have a craft department anymore.

And I seemed to have misplaced the tote with the lemon and cherries. I do not lose things. Well, sometimes I do, but I hate to lose things. It drives me nuts. I come from a long line of people who hate to lose things. In fact, my aunt (my father's sister) coined a very appropriate phrase. It says, "Once a (insert maiden name)'s, always a (insert maiden name)'s." With that in mind, if I find an unauthorized person using my lemon bag, things might get ugly. Forget about "finder's keeper's." blah, blah, blah. It's still my bag. And I will reclaim it at any cost. Well ... almost.

Edited to add: False alarm. I just found the lemon bag in the back of my car. I guess everyone is safe from Lera, once again. I will not have to glare accusingly at every passerby anymore. You are free to go about your business.

Those are really cute! Where did you get the designs? The dog one looks like the one used on Martha to make the rap around onsie. I wanted to try my hand at freezer stencils, but can't find any cool kid appropriate images.

So how big are these bags? They don't look nearly big enough to me to fit any groceries. I'm toying with the idea of recreating the 99 cent ones that they sell at walmart with some stash fabric. They are big and boxy, though. These look slimmer.

Where do you get the templates? Your designs are unique and cute. Have you found they stay on well if laundered? Perhaps a tutorial...

Very cute totes! I'm a big fan of silhouettes and love the prints you chose too. The dog cracks me up. Way to make grocery shopping more fun!

Those designs are perfect! You're going to be the envy of all shoppers.

I don't think we have cheap canvas bags up here at Walmart. I'll have to look.

Great totes! Love the designs. Just a little hint from one mama to another ... pick up a D ring from the camping section at Walmart. Put it on one of the shopping totes, stuff all the others inside that one tote, and then clip it to the handle of the shopping cart ... I need every inch of space inside the cart (especially if the toddler insists on having the car or truck shopping cart) for the weeks groceries.

The bags are cute, but you make me laugh. I can just see you inspecting the totes of everyone in the walmart!

I am still loving these. Mine are black and UGLY. Your canvas-type ones probably don't collect dog hair too. I also don't like that about my black ones. They sit in the back of my SUV and that is also where the dog goes on trips.

Phew! So glad you found it! I was way worried!
I have been making some "Grocery Totes" (called shopping bags by me) too. Our state has just banned plastic bags so we will be forced to find an alternative. (Which is a good idea, because those of us who are slack and who know better even would just keep using plastic cause it's easier than getting organised!) I'd not thought to blog about them. Maybe I will.

That's the best way to find something - threaten the whole wide world and then HELLO! there it is. Making you look silly.

Ah, I see we share a page from the same book. Glad you found your bag :)

And that porky-pine bag is painfully cute. Love.

Hope your running's going well.
