Christmas Crafting

There's not much I can show of my Christmas crafting, but I'm pretty sure Sawyer doesn't check my blog.

I had seen several of these peas in blogville and when I was buying books for my children for Christmas, I couldn't help myself when I saw this. Sawyer loves balls, so I am sure he will adore this pea.

It is made from wool felt. His mouth (also wool felt) is satin-stitched on. His eyes (also wool felt) is hand stitched. He has three little red french-knot freckles on each cheek.

I actually had a lot of fun making this little guy. First it was just a ball. Then it was a ball with a mouth. Then it was a ball with one eye. Then two. And then the freckles gave him personality. And I'm happy I had fun making him because when I was working on him late one night last week, I realized it was after 12:30 a.m.

Thanks for the birthday wishes for Taylor and the well wishes for Joe. Joe is recovering. Slowly. He can now bend three of his five fingers. He had to sleep sitting up last night to prevent blood clots, so he slept on our family room couch. His throat is sore, too, because they intubated him during the surgery. He has drugs, so I think he'll make it.

Enjoy your weekend. We have birthday party #2 tonight. A sleepover. Three and a half boys. One boy can't sleep over. :-)

i saw online where someone has an almost sleepover party where the kids wear their pj's and do the same kind of stuff but you have the party like from 7-10. I may do that for Lidia's birthday.

oh and i love the pea. i think i'd like to have a christmas where we have only home made gifts one year. it would take more preparation though. i'd have to work toward it like all year.

Love the sweet pea. I call my husband that all the time. I should make him one.
The pea is super cute! I haven't read the book either but it looks like something my son would like.

I'm glad Joe's on the mend. My brother-in-law had a similar surgery and it was a painful recovery. But now he feels glad he did it!
