Lawn/Porch Ornament

This morning before breakfast, I sprayed this little thrifted ceramic lamb. He had been hanging around for a few weeks and I didn't know what color I wanted him to be. It was around 1 a.m. this morning that I realized he needed to be pink. I almost did it then, but I didn't want the neighbors to think I had lost my mind. (Oh, by the way, my plant is dying. 'Nough said.)

I think the urgency for painting this lamb was due to the fact that the boys and I have been reading Goosebumps: Revenge of the Lawn Gnomes. I decided we needed an "evil" lawn (porch) ornament to keep them on their toes. We just finished the book this morning after breakfast. And they're begging for more ...

Every summer I read Goosebumps books to my boys. It's a tradition I started when Taylor and Carter were younger. Taylor no longer stays to listen, and half the time the younger ones are too afraid to listen, yet they beg for more, while covering their ears. Today (after they tidy their rooms) we will start Deep Trouble. We have quite a selection of Goosebumps, thanks to thrifting and eBay.

And look at my poor little man. Yesterday morning Sawyer took a tumble off the back of our floating sofa and fell head/face first into a toy box. His poor little eye is swollen and his cheek and nose. It breaks my heart.

We'll have to look for Goosebumps books at the library today. I'm trying so hard to get my boys into reading something other than comic books and Captain Underpants. K has read a chapter or two of Harry Potter, but they don't have a lot of patience for chapter books. Maybe if I read aloud it would help.

What a great reading tradition. I was thinking of trying to read the Little House books to my daughter this summer, or at least the first one. Not sure she's old enough, but it can't hurt to try, right?

Poor Sawyer! Kids are so resilient, aren't they? He looks like he's holding up well. :)

Ummmm...didn't you say no more spray painting until you got the new paint????????

What fun reading the Goosebumps books!!

And....poor Sawyer. He'll be fine in no time I'm sure.

Oh no! :-(

Do you use arnica gel on the kids? I hadn't heard of it until Jack had a nasty fall and that stuff really works. It will help a LOT with the bruising and swelling. (You might need a health food type place to buy it at.)

Oh! Poor little Sawyer! That looks like it hurts.

We read the Goosebumps books too, when my kids were younger. Ragan, even at age 14 1/2 still loves me to read to her. Makenzie, age 19, pretends she's not listening, but I know she is. :) We recently started reading a Stephanie Meyer book--(Twilight) but I encourged her to finish reading on her own. Now that she is finished, she can't wait for the movie to come out in December.

That little lamb looks like it can ward off all manner of evil....:]

Poor little Sawyer. I hope he is better in no time. It is the painful lessons that we seem to always recall.

Great story tradition! I may have to read that Goosbumps and look for an evil lawn ornie for the classroom. SO much fun! Poor Sawyer! Maybe he deserves a modified "nurse" tally. Something like # of ice packs. Gotta say still darling with those bruises.

Gosh, I hope Sawyer's okay now. The pink lamb is so sweet!

The rosemary plant I was gifted recently has turned a dark grey! That's not the right color, right? LOL
