We Have Mice!

Okay. Not really. (Well, actually, probably really in our basement, but let's not talk about that.)

Last year I bought some black craft foam in hopes of making some rats and mice to decorate our outside steps. And, well, it never happened. This year, it has happened.

I got the idea from Martha. I decided to use foam (instead of paper) so I could use them on our front steps. The kids are really excited about them. And I see I need to add more.

The pumpkins all came from our yard. Some from our herb garden and the largest ones from our front yard. (So happy to have finally picked them.) The two pumpkins we picked back in August started to rot, so we fed them to the chickens. And they were entirely loved. And I have a pumpkin on my dining room table (which I stole from the bottom step last night) and a little pumpkin on a bench on the front porch. I guess that makes 11 pumpkins total. Not to mention the little baby white pumpkins and gourds that grew accidentally in our garden. So, this little porch decoration cost me nothing.

Remember me???? How long has it been since I commented here???? TOO LONG!

Anyhoo, I need to make those mice for the library. Where or where did you get the stencils?

I need to do this. I have some black foam that needs to be used. Maybe a FHE craft...

Very cool. I saw (and love!) that idea, but we have no stairs. Boo hoo.

How wonderful that you have so many cute pumpkins. I've given up growing pumpkins in Texas and now just buy them. ;o)

Just printing the template-can't wait to do mice with the grandkids!

You have chickens-in town? We need you on our town council-Manhattan MT is to hoity-toity to have something so disgusting as chickens! Nearby Bozeman just approved chickens so maybe.....

Not sure if I want them, but I hate that they dictate we can't have them in a town of 1200 people.

Love it! I could just image walking up your stairs Hallowe'en Eve. Then running right back down.....screaming. Very real looking at first glance.

Oh I loooove your steps! So beautiful. Wish I could come visit and be surprised by them! (I love your coloured eggs too. You have fancy chickens that's for sure!)

making my foam mice today, didn't finish cutting them out last night. the kids want to put them out on our steps as soon as they get home from school.
we also had early pumpkins come up that are now rotten. our local nursery has a free family pumpkin patch and hayride so we'll have more soon.

It may have cost you nothing but it's, by far, the cutest Halloween decor I've seen.

Probably ever.

And you know how I feel about decorating for the holidays...

Excellent work, Lera :)

How cute is that! I love those. My parents live in an old church and they collect "church mice. I need to sneak over to their house and do this to their steps one day... Thanks for the great idea!
