Trash Picking

I'm sick. Again. Yesterday morning I came down with another case of mastitis. I really feel like I am going to die. Still. I'm on antibiotics and ibuprofen, but they aren't working yet.

I have a few WIPs, but I don't feel like taking their pictures, so I'll show you this dollhouse instead:

On Monday afternoon when I went to pick up the boys from sports camp, I spied this dollhouse in a neighbor's trash pile. When we came back from school, I stopped and had my oldest son grab it. He kept thinking he was stealing it, especially as a police car drove by just as he was putting it in the car. The look on my son's face was priceless.

After I brought it home, Spenser and Mason just laid on the deck and studied it. It was dirty, so it stayed there until I had a chance to wipe it down.

All of the children have loved playing with it. Spenser, of course, loves it most of all. Every day when Joe comes home from work, she shows him the dollhouse.

Oh no on the sicky!

What a great dollhouse! Is it wood or plastic? I can't tell from the photos.

What is it about taking things from people's trash that freaks people out? I just made my hubby help me drag home a huge storage thing the other day and you'd have thought I was asking him to rob a bank with me.

And the mastitis sucks. Bad. My sister has it occasionally (it's been 8 years since I've breastfed) and the one thing that she has found that consistently works is massage in the direction of milk flow. It hurts, but it works. She sometimes does it while she's got the breast pump going, but mostly she just uses a warm compress and rubs gently.

Score indeed! And I love seeing Spenser's chunky legs standing in the background of that last shot.

And despite the fact that I quit nursing almost two years ago, when I read mastitis (AGAIN! NO!) my boobs suddenly hurt. I hope you feel better IMMEDIATELY if not sooner.

I hope you have a good weekend, my friend.

What a true gem... both your dumpster digging son and his trash-treasure.

Looks like it's for "little people" from fisher price... would that be your guess?
I am sorry to hear about the mastitis. I had it a couple of times last year and it was awful.

On the other hand, great find on the dollhouse. It is gorgeous!

All I can say is OUCH! Hope you feel better soon.

I am glad I am not the only trash digger. Wonder why we feel a little weird taking something from someone else's trash pile?

I can certainly understand Spenser loving the dollhouse!

I love it. My kids are always thinking we steal trash. Not sure why.

That's so funny that he thought you were asking him to steal something. I guess a healthy fear of the police is good. But I tell my kids all the time, "Mommy never asks you to do anything that will hurt you." Oh why do they never believe us? Spenser must just love it!
