Before & After

I can't believe it has taken me so long to work on this thing. I'm ashamed to admit that this dresser has been left unpainted in my house for a year and a half. It seems like yesterday when I was bringing it home from the swap shop with grand plans of painting it. Instead, it was placed in our upstairs hall and housed my homemade soaps. It was the perfect spot to allow my soap to cure. Ugly as could be, but functional.

Well, that changed last week when I decided to remove the wooden knobs and paint the drawers.

But it wasn't until yesterday that the dresser itself was hauled outside to be painted. It was given a glossy coat of pale pink. I added glass knobs that we found at the home improvement store. I have now invested more in this dresser than it is probably worth, but oh well. My soaps look really good in it!

(Oh, and we ran across a whole tray of meat soap. Joe insists that it doesn't smell like meat anymore, but I just can't bare to slather myself in it, just in case. In fact, the thought of it makes me gag a little.)

That's fantatic! I'm always so excited to see painted furniture, it really transforms things. Sometimes I prowl my house trying to find something new to slap a coat on!
That looks amazing. I love the glass knobs too. Makes such a difference and it looks so pretty.

it looks great! I have some furniture pieces that need to be painted, too. I dread it though.

Meat soap.....not great for a mostly vegetarian. The dogs might really like it though!

Hey that looks great. I have been wanting to go to a big flee market in a town about an hour away to find some old furniture so I can do the same.

I'm sure your soap will look so much prettier in that chest now!

That is so cute! I never find anything that looks good enough to repaint. Or maybe I just can't see the finished picture. I don't know. I do love that color!

I love it! Especially the glass knobs. I'll be re-doing a dresser for my little girl's room soon, and yours has given me a lot of inspiration. Thanks!

looks fabulous! I re-painted a dresser last year - it was a lot of work, but well worth it!
Adorable!! Love the color!

That is a really beautiful transformation. I love the wavy edge at the bottom. I've got a modern trunk in the queue for a makover. It keeps getting bumped in favour of fabric ideas as the weather is unsettled again and I'd have to sand and paint in the garden. Well done for getting yours done.

Amazing what paint and knobs can do! I wouldn't be surprised if Spenser starts asking for her own pink dresser!

It looks great! "Meat Soap" is hilarious! I think I would have the same problem. My sense of smell is just a little too powerful!

Excellent.

Btw, I am not sure how much the knobs were at the hardware store, but target carries them. I think they are $3 a pop. (still not super cheap, but eh, old ones are hard to find and expensive too!)
