Shirt

Are you sick of my shirts yet? I'm sorry if you are, but I'm not. In fact, I'm itching to make more. I'm just awaiting the "fabric inspiration fairy" to visit me.

I made this shirt (Simplicity 3835, did you really need to ask?) on Saturday night so I could wear it to church on Sunday morning. Joe was busy working on some school work and the kids were in bed. The shirt takes less than an hour to sew. It's very simple. I used some white fabric with small red polka dots. My new favorite. My new favorite that is almost gone. (I've used it on two baby kimonos recently.)

Thanks to Karyn, we make the shirt a little different. The pattern calls for the back to be two pieces because it's the same pattern piece as the dress (which I think has a zipper, I can't find the pattern right now). Karyn decided the back should be one piece of fabric, like the front. It works out great. In fact, that's how I've made all three shirts so far. And, another hint from Karyn, is to iron a label on the inside of the back so you can tell the back from the front (you know, for when you're in a hurry to get dressed and you have six little ones running around the house acting wild and crazy).

Simplicity 3835: It's a keeper!

LERA! I LOVE it! NOW I see why you are completely in love with that fabric. I'll check my Joann's on Saturday and I'll stock up on it (if they have it) for US. Oh, when I told DianNe about it, she said she actually saw it at Joann's when we were there after Christmas, so there's hope.

And....nice pendant.

And....doesn't the label help!!!

I just got some cotton lawn in yesterday that would be perfect for this pattern, maybe I'll finally get around to making it. I love this one, Lera.

i am not sick of the shirts. they are all so cute and different, depending on the fabric. I really want to try making one now. a one hour project sounds fabulous!!! I also love the layering and the pendant. so cute. and really, can you go wrong with the red and white, be it gingham, or polka dots...it's all good.

cute, i sew a little piece of ribbon on the back of the inside waistband of my pj pants so i can easily tell the difference and it's cute.

i think this one is my favorite so far. and thanks for mentioning that it only takes an hour to sew up. i'm a slow at sewing, so i'm sure I can double that, but still - i'm sure i can sneak it in.

Oh I absolutely love that top! So did you make a new pattern piece for the back, combine the two back pieces, or use the front piece as a back piece too?

Lera, These shirts are so cute. I adore the one you made with longer sleeves and this one is cute, too. You've inspired me to try shirts. Though... as you know... pants have been too easy for me, yet.
We must shop at the same fabric store chain... I have that same fabric (from your other shirt) in my stash. Love it!

How did you alter the pattern to make the back a single piece?
