In Christmas Denial

I think I'm in Christmas denial. Is it really coming up?

Just two weeks ago it was 70 degrees outside. Now it's cold, windy, and blustery. We saw our first snowflakes on Tuesday. It was bitter cold.

I'm still in Autumn mode. Apples and applesauce, pilgrim hat cookies, falling leaves. I'm not ready for this thing called Christmas. Or winter for that matter.

In a bit of reality, I ordered some Christmas presents. Like this cute wooden scale. And this cute wooden food for Spenser. She spends most of her days playing with her wooden food. It's the best investment I've made. They came out with a few new ones this year and so I'm happy to add to her collection.

I'm also looking at some wooden cash registers. I like these three. (Anyone have any experience with them?)

And look at this cute wooden mailbox!

So maybe I'm not really in denial yet. Maybe I'm getting a teensy bit excited. It really is a wonderful time of the year.

Are you in denial or are you excited?

My boy got the cutting fruit last Christmas and loves it. I think we may go with the sushi set or the sandwich set this year (also Melissa and Doug). Although now you have tempted me with the mailbox. Too cute!

I'm waiting for the panic to set in. My baby is due a week before Christmas...and yet I STILL have plans for homemade pumpkin bread for EVERYONE. I need to clear out some space in my freezer, get the rest of my pumpkins steamed and mashed and frozen, and then make them into loaves of bread after Thanksgiving so I can just pull them out when I need them. ;-)

Excited. But you knew that. Autumn has been all sleepy and icky here, I'm ready to get back into things. :)

I want to jump into Christmas with both feet, but I have a house to clean, 2 turkeys to roast, pies to bake and 23 people coming over for Thanksgiving standing in my way....

I am so excited for Christmas!! I wait for it all year. We had strange weather as well so it does make it feel a little unreal...I think once the first snow falls it really gets exciting.
I have that wooden mailbox. my son loves giving everyone mail. he loves playing with it but it wasn't as sturdy as some of the other toys I have from the same company. the little lock thing broke after only a week or so, but it can still be played with. I bought some tiny little metal mailboxes and Micheal's and we each decorated one and we leave notes for each other in them. that is really fun as well.

A little of both. I'm always in denial as far as homemade stuff goes. I always think I'll have enough time to do EVERYTHING I want to do. Yeah. Right.

I'm excited about other parts -- got a bunch of shopping already done and grand plans for baking sprees. :o)

Christmas? What's that? As you (and only you) know, we are having a small Christmas around here as we gear up for big things happening in March.

And you know what? Not to sound like Scrooge, but I'm not missing the stress I usually start feeling around now.

You know me, Lera - denial.

I ran past a house this morning that already had its Christmas lights up and I nearly passed away.

It's still November - we can still just be excited for Thanksgiving. At least, in my house we can ;)

Happy Apple-ing.

Yes, we use both, the mailbox & the cash register. Wwll, the cash register we have is from nova naturals, but we have two of the mailboxes, since they were gifts. They use them like crazy, along with totes as mail bags & tons of my own mail you'll have to make sure they don't take from your mailbox, then...

I love the food sets you are ordering for spenser. how stinkin' adorable! the church nursery in MI had the wooden fruit and it was the most played with toys in the place. the kids just loved it.

I'm not in denial for christmas...but I am procrastinating. (big surprise there, huh?)

It's not denial so much as a busy, full life for me. I'm excited, but just not quite up to it yet.

I'm in denial with you, though I'm ordering some wooden food too.
