Teachers Gifts

This year I decided to give them covered notebooks. I used regular old composition books ($1 each) and jazzed them up a bit. I used this tutorial to get me started. After making a trial one, I decided against making a pocket for the back flap. (What can you really stick in there anyway?)

The children also gave their teachers a nice, plump, and very fragrant lavender plant. I figure the total cost of each gift was around $5.
(Maureen, the school nurse, also received a gift. She does so much for my boys, as you can see by their "trips to the school nurse.")

I'm in awe1 not only from this project but for all the dresses and skirt you seem to conjure up from thin air!
I'm half expecting a call from the camp nurse - kids were throwing up at camp left right and center yesterday. ewww....
Eliot's teacher of 2 1/2 years (who was Aidin's teacher for 6 months) is moving to San Franscisco in June. I'm thinking about a quilt for her, but I'll probably spend all my time thinking and no time actually doing.
Hope you're feeling better.
This is a great idea, and a good use for scrap fabric. It'd be especially charming in patchwork. Love the gingham dress, by the way - too cute!
Hope you feel better soon.
