Teachers Gifts

It's that time of year again. The time where I scramble trying to find something affordable to give our ten teachers.

This year I decided to give them covered notebooks. I used regular old composition books ($1 each) and jazzed them up a bit. I used this tutorial to get me started. After making a trial one, I decided against making a pocket for the back flap. (What can you really stick in there anyway?)

I wanted to decorate the front more, but with being sick, I was lucky to make ten of these things without dying. (Yes, I realize three are missing, but those were gifted to Spenser's preschool teachers earlier in the week.)

The children also gave their teachers a nice, plump, and very fragrant lavender plant. I figure the total cost of each gift was around $5.

(Maureen, the school nurse, also received a gift. She does so much for my boys, as you can see by their "trips to the school nurse.")

Great idea! I think the school nurse will like her gift as well since your guys are regular customers of hers! :)

I swear, you're the MacGuiver of sewing!

I'm in awe1 not only from this project but for all the dresses and skirt you seem to conjure up from thin air!

Those are great - and wow! That's 43 trips to the nurse in 36 weeks. Dang!

I'm half expecting a call from the camp nurse - kids were throwing up at camp left right and center yesterday. ewww....

Eliot's teacher of 2 1/2 years (who was Aidin's teacher for 6 months) is moving to San Franscisco in June. I'm thinking about a quilt for her, but I'll probably spend all my time thinking and no time actually doing.

Hope you're feeling better.

You're so fabulous for doing this for the kids' teachers. I'm sure they appreciate the thank you and get a lot of use out of their notebooks. Meanwhile, I bet the nurse is EXTRA grateful, given the amount of quality time she spends with the boys ;)

What a thoughtful mom you are. Those covers look great. I gave gifts at Teacher Appreciation week, and skipped the last day of school gifts...

Lera!!!

This is a great idea, and a good use for scrap fabric. It'd be especially charming in patchwork. Love the gingham dress, by the way - too cute!

Hope you feel better soon.
