Soccer and Why I'm Losing My Mind

Jack (goalie).

Every night of the week someone has soccer. When I say "someone," I really mean someone, because I can't keep them straight. No matter how hard I try, I can't remember who has what when. Seriously.

For instance, the kids had off of school on Monday, which would normally be Mason's soccer practice. Because there was no school, there was no soccer practice. It had been rescheduled for Tuesday. However, it rained on Tuesday (yesterday, I think), so the coach pushed practice back to today (Wednesday). The whole day-off-of-school-already-in-the-year has really thrown me through a loop. At least that's what I'm blaming (and my old age).

So yesterday (Tuesday, I keep reminding myself), "Jack" has practice. I called his coach to see if they were still planning to have practice because it had finally stopped raining, but was soggy. After I didn't hear back from the coach for awhile, I decided it must still be on. Five minutes before we were getting ready to go, Jack announces that he doesn't have soccer. Uh, that means someone else has soccer. Who? That someone would be Carter. So we had to scramble to get Carter's shin guards and cleats and water bottle. And then Jack's coach's wife calls to say she just got my message ... Yeah. I was busted.

And now you wonder why I almost left Sawyer home alone. I think I'm losing my mind.

Carter (right).

Taylor (front and center) on Saturday's game.

When I have time (ha!), I am going to make a spreadsheet (if I can remember) of where I have to be when. And who has to be where when. Then I will have to learn the days of the week, because apparently I can't keep them straight either. I have brain overload.

ROFL. That's why I only have one in soccer right now. Just too much to keep track of. M wants to start karate, but I'm going to make him wait a couple of weeks. :o)

Good luck!

This is why my children do not play soccer. I'm a mean mom, I know. Girl Scouts, ballet, belly dance, tumbling, band practice and darts are about all I can handle. (Three of those activities belong to me and Tim.)

Two words for you my friend...Palm Pilot! Make it be your brain for you, check it every morning. Sync it to your computer every night. I swear by it. Seriously.
And pray the rain stops.

I feel the EXACT same way, and I only have one boy and one team to keep up with! I feel for you, sister.

You make me laugh! And I thought I was the only one with brain mush... with all those things on your schedule, you probably should take your own advice and make a spreadsheet. That way your kids can read it and remind you too.

Honestly, that is why my hubby and I are taking Karate with our boys--it is just easier and there is less running around. It also equals a nice work-out for me!

Take heart, the soccer season doesn't last too long!

You need a huge chalkboard with the days of the week along the top, and the kids names down the side.

I think that spreadsheet sounds like a good idea! I don't think I could keep all that straight either! :)

Clearly I'm catching up on your posts. I've been away. So, I'm spamming you.

Whoa mama. That is too much! I can hardly keep our little two person/two pet household in order, much less a gaggle of kids in soccer, too.

I imagine they also have other activities for which you are also in charge of keeping track, non?

Have you tried Google Calendar? Not to be a dork, but it's the only way I keep stuff straight around here and everyone gets their heartworm pills (dog), hair cut (bubba and me), flea drops (cat/dog), birthday presents, etc.

Just a thought. Good luck!
