Autumn Bliss
When we bought our pumpkins for Halloween, we also bought a bunch of apples from the orchard. We bought some Jonagold, Mutsu, and Red Delicious. I bought a bunch thinking we would make applesauce. Everyone was eating apples like crazy for a few days. And then we had some hanging around forever. Finally yesterday I was tired of looking at the remaining sad apples and decided to make applesauce.
I haven't made homemade applesauce in years. Years. It's not cost effective for a family my size, so sadly I buy it already made from the store. It's just not the same. At least for me. Well, and maybe for the boys, too. Jack and Mason wouldn't eat it. Sawyer loved it though.
When I think of autumn, I think of apples and applesauce and apple cider and pumpkin pie. I also start thinking I need a different wardrobe ...

I've been thinking that I need a new autumn-to-winter skirt. Yes, the weather is getting cooler, but I wear a skirt to church every Sunday. A girl can't have enough skirts for the Sunday morning rush. It's going to be a wrap skirt, like these two. The fabric came from the "jackpot" I inherited so it won't cost me a cent. Can't beat that.

I can't wait to see your skirt, I'm sure it will be very pretty.
I've never heard of a mutsu apple.
Enjoy your weekend!
Have you ever looked at the nutritional value in applesauce at the store? Where does the fiber go? And the vitamins?! I don't get it. It's like eating air. With carbs. But I admit, I buy it sometimes too.
(my Mom makes the best!)
Can't wait to see your finished skirt too.
I used to go to the orchard and buy my apples by the bushel for applesauce. I would get the "seconds" - they are not perfect and a little bruised but they are perfect for applesauce and SO SO SO much cheaper. Sadly we no longer live near an apple orchard.
looking forward to seeing your new skirt. and yes, there cannot be too many skirts in the closet for the sunday morning church rush. oy.
It makes me burst that you like my onesies! You! The sewing diva!
Someday I'll learn more sewing skills like how to read a pattern and sew things other than rectangles. Thanks for the inspiration.
