From Sheet to ...

skirt.

Yesterday's sheet has now been repurposed into a skirt. The skirt is the "Breezy Beach Wrap" from the Sew What! Skirts book, which I received for Christmas. This is the first time I've sewn from it and I'm not really sure why I didn't try it sooner. I love it!

It was fun to take my measurements and make a garment just for me. Just for my body. And the length I wanted (just below the knee).

Even if some of the stitches in the ditch aren't in the ditch, I still love it. It just makes me want to make another one.

With the colors in the skirt, I think it's the perfect end-of-summer-almost-autumn skirt.

Cute! I love the way it turned out. I have heard so many things about that book, I'll have to ask for it for Christmas!

I love that you have a baby on your hip.

:o)

That's wonderful, Lera! I hadn't taken a second look at that skirt in the book, but I may need to dig my book out and make one.

I wasn't sure when you showed it the other day, but today I'm sure - I thrifted that sheet this past weekend! It's such a fun print and it looks great as your skirt!

Very nice! I like how you call it 'repurposed'. I have that book out of the library right now and am really impressed with it. A while back I used a vintage sheet for nightgowns for my girls.

Great skirt Lera! I have had my eye on that book for awhile now... I really must get it. I just followed your link to that book on Amazon. Did you see the two books it also notes on that page about embroidery... Stitch it Kit. Looks like something else I will have to check into.

Oh yah, I love that sheet fabric. I made a bunch of grocery bags from a thrifted sheet

Your sheet is so much better. Love those funky flowers! And great job on the skirt. I've yet to try making clothes. I'm getting there, though.

That skirt is so SO cute - I love it! And I'm the same way, I like my skirts to hit below the knee so I'm always adjusting patterns to make them that way.

I'm now inspired to buy that book. I need a hundred skirts!

LOVE THAT SKIRT.

Too bad I hate wearing skirts!!! If I didn't, I'd have a zillion

I've only ever made skirts from a paper pattern. Don't know how I would fare having to sew from my own measurements.

Love the style and fabric of your skirt, very autumnal.
