"Not-So-Fun" Fun

Yesterday was a not-so-fun day with Shrinky Dinks. Here's how it went down:

Mason: Mom, can I do Shrinky Dinks.

Me: No, don't you want to do something else? (Please!?!?!?)

Mason: No, I want to do Shrinky Dinks.

Me: Okay. Hold on.

Mason: Mom, can I do Shrinky Dinks now?

Me: Yes, Mason, hold on.

Mason: Mom ... now?

Me: Mason. Yes! Now! (gritting teeth)

Mason: Mom, can you draw it for me?

Mason: Mom, can you color it for me?

Mason: Mom, can you cut it for me?

Me: Mason, I'm not the one doing the Shrinky Dinks. I've already told you that I did not want to do Shrinky Dinks today.

Mason: Mom, can you draw this for me?

Yes, it was a long day. I drew, colored, cut, and baked the Shrinky Dinks. All day long we did Shrinky Dinks. Every time I sat down, he wanted to do another one. And another one. And another one. (You get the point.) The above photo is only a few of the ones I could find at the end of the day.

He eventually started to trace and color his own. Not soon enough.

I just have to mention that on Tuesday night Jackson took his first karate exam and was promoted to yellow belt (skipping the orange belt). He was so nervous the whole time. He's the littlest one in the class. We are so proud of him. Way to go, Jack! (That's Taylor in the green belt to the right and Carter in the red belt.)

I wonder if my mom felt this way...when I was six my dad worked for the company that sold the original Shrinky Dinks. We had TONS of them (puffy, glow-in-the-dark, Barbie, Hot Wheels, you name it!). Now I've got the urge to go make some!

Yea, Jack! And Mason. Dude! Give your mom a break!

But Lera, you make very pretty shrinky dinks. :) Ditto what Beki and Laura said.

haha, that just made me laugh. I'm not sure when the last time I even made one was! Those came out cute though.

I had my own shrinky dink torture two days ago! they just didn't turn out. They were all curly and weird. Yours look much better than ours. What's the trick?

LOL, sounds very much like the day we had this week cutting out paper easter eggs and decorating them! I've never made a shrinky dink in my life. Wouldn't even know where to start. Perhaps we should give them a try? Congrats Jackson on the new belt! And thanks for your comment on my blog!
