Well ...

She had x-rays and ...

... it is not fractured. Thank goodness.

She still won't put any weight on her leg and her leg is still swollen, so our doctor wants her to see an orthopedic specialist for a second opinion this week. They are going to set up the appointment and call me later today.

She has been pitiful and sad all day. Poor thing.

I almost had a meltdown in the bathroom of the radiology place. I had Spenser in the stroller and I was carrying Sawyer. Spenser had to go to the bathroom so I had to get her out of the stroller, without putting her down and put Sawyer in the stroller without putting him down. (Kids in public bathrooms freak me out.) I did that and then had to manage putting toilet paper on the seat and getting her undies down, one-handed, while trying to hold her and not to jostle Spenser and her leg. She cried the entire time. Sawyer was crying because he went from my arms to a stroller and he wasn't very happy about that transition. I really needed an extra two sets of hands for that job and some drugs.

Although she is still in a lot of pain, at least we know it's not broken.

um, okay. DON'T YELL AT ME.

but if she's not putting any weight on it, it's possible they couldn't find the fracture on the x-ray yet. sometimes it takes a few days for the break to become clear enough to see.

try tapping on the bottom of her foot. there's something about that particular type of vibration that really hurts bone breaks.

gah, sorry you're going through this.

I'm so sorry. Poor Spensor. I hope the doctors figure out what's wrong and can make her feel better. I don't know how you do it. BTW, cute outfit!

Ah, man. Poor little girl. And ditto what Capello said - sometimes it takes a while for a fracture to show up. I hope your sweet girl is feeling better soon.

And maybe ban her from the trampoline when the boys are on it.

Poor Spenser!!! I hope they find out what is wrong, FAST!

Sometimes a good sprain can hurt as much as a break and heals much faster. I've had 6 broken bones and a shattered elbow. I'm an EXPERT!

Oh man, that poor baby, I want to cry for her.

Capello makes a good point. I had a broken rib, it really hurt, (and I was 38 weeks pregnant!) and every freaking x-ray showed nothing. 4 days later I coughed and REALLY broke it, and by then the x-ray showed the fracture.

Poor Spensor and poor Mommy! I am so sorry Lera. Sounds like you all need a day in jammies vegging out and resting. I wish I lived closer, I'd come give you a hand. I totally would have been crying in that bathroom...and cursing. Two babies crying, one hurting, a confined space and one very stressed mommy...you poor thing! Sending you and Spensor my prayers and thoughts today!

poor thing (both of you!). yeah, i think fractures are really hard to read. i had a fractured hand once, and at my follow up appointment the supervising doctor said - nope, it was never fractured, let's get that cast off (too early). and sometimes to this day it still hurts. better safe than sorry.
