Play Day

At the Play Day there was:


a three-legged race (Carter);

sno-cones (Taylor, Spenser and Mason);

toe eating;

third place in the 200-meter;

(Notice the boy in the very back? He lost a shoe during the race! He kept going.)

hill rolling (Spenser and Mason);


and Mason falling asleep during dinner. Or actually before dinner.

A horrible eye infection or pink eye (?) I started giving him eye drops and antihistamines yesterday, but it's not helping. A call to the doctor might be necessary. They don't open until 11:30 a.m. today.

(Jack's kindergarten play day is next week.)

Yikes. That eye looks painful. Not very crusty though, I thought pink eye was really crusty? 11 30 is ridiculous!

I love when babies eat their toes - it's just too cute!
The eye looks... not so great. Could it be a stye? Either way, a washcloth with warm water on it for a few minutes at a time might help.

Reusable Swiffer WetJet Cloths

I promised myself that, when I bought a box of Swiffer WetJet refills at the wholesale club, it would be the last box I bought. Something had to be done. Now, to be honest, part of the reason was to help the environment, but the other part was because I was tired of running out of those darn things. I took some towels, folded them in half cut them into 5" widths. (The towel was just about 25" or so from side to side when flat.) Then I cut two 5" pieces of elastic and serged it all together. Two layers of toweling and two elastic strips. That's it. (The finished piece was approximately 4.75" x 12.") Within minutes I had a stack of eight. Slide them on and mop away. You will have a clean floor and have saved one more thing from ending up in the landfill. Now, if I can just do something about the cleaning liquid ... Something environmentally-friendly, economical, and won't cause further pain to my arthritic back.

Thrifted Chair

Before ... a $10 thrifted chair ... After ... 1 1/2 cans of spray paint and a little cotton batting and fabric and a staple gun later ... I used Alexander Henry's Sunny Side fabric for the seat. I love the contrast of the red, black and white. Can you say oh yeah ??
