something is in my house!

I was just sitting here with the children enjoying Clifford on PBS when I heard a strange and curious sound. I thought it was Spenser pushing around her shopping cart, but I couldn't figure out what she was driving over. Then I thought it was Mason's feet kicking something. Then I realized the sound is coming from our air-conditioning vent (central air)! I shut the vent and put a toy over it and called Joe at work.

Unfortunately, he said if something is in there, it will have access to the entire first floor of the house because of the duct work, so covering one vent won't do anything.

Could it be a mouse? A bird? A squirrel? I don't want to find out.

Kim, keep your birds to yourself! (She just had a bird in her boiler pipe a few days ago!)

I'm freaking out!

We have a mouse (at least one) in our house.

The biggest problem is, IT KEEPS EATING MY GOOD STASH OF CHOCOLATE.

Aaron's gonna have to really figure out a way to catch it and dispose of it when he comes home.

Reusable Swiffer WetJet Cloths

I promised myself that, when I bought a box of Swiffer WetJet refills at the wholesale club, it would be the last box I bought. Something had to be done. Now, to be honest, part of the reason was to help the environment, but the other part was because I was tired of running out of those darn things. I took some towels, folded them in half cut them into 5" widths. (The towel was just about 25" or so from side to side when flat.) Then I cut two 5" pieces of elastic and serged it all together. Two layers of toweling and two elastic strips. That's it. (The finished piece was approximately 4.75" x 12.") Within minutes I had a stack of eight. Slide them on and mop away. You will have a clean floor and have saved one more thing from ending up in the landfill. Now, if I can just do something about the cleaning liquid ... Something environmentally-friendly, economical, and won't cause further pain to my arthritic back.

Thrifted Chair

Before ... a $10 thrifted chair ... After ... 1 1/2 cans of spray paint and a little cotton batting and fabric and a staple gun later ... I used Alexander Henry's Sunny Side fabric for the seat. I love the contrast of the red, black and white. Can you say oh yeah ??
