Totem Poles

Taylor and Carter made totem poles in art class. They turned out pretty cute.
Taylor's is 3-D (3rd grade version). I was loving the nifty little, old wooden spools on the top.


Carter's is a painted totem pole (1st grade version). You can see he loves blue!

Today is the last day of school! Oh my! Actually, it's only a half day (as was yesterday ... don't ask me why). We may walk to the convenience store after school for ice cream/popsicles. It will depend upon my walking ability (not good already today) and Spenser's nap. If not, I am supposed to take them to the carnival in Joe's parents' town tonight ... again, depending upon my ability to walk. (Joe's parents gave us money and will help me again with the kids.)

Reusable Swiffer WetJet Cloths

I promised myself that, when I bought a box of Swiffer WetJet refills at the wholesale club, it would be the last box I bought. Something had to be done. Now, to be honest, part of the reason was to help the environment, but the other part was because I was tired of running out of those darn things. I took some towels, folded them in half cut them into 5" widths. (The towel was just about 25" or so from side to side when flat.) Then I cut two 5" pieces of elastic and serged it all together. Two layers of toweling and two elastic strips. That's it. (The finished piece was approximately 4.75" x 12.") Within minutes I had a stack of eight. Slide them on and mop away. You will have a clean floor and have saved one more thing from ending up in the landfill. Now, if I can just do something about the cleaning liquid ... Something environmentally-friendly, economical, and won't cause further pain to my arthritic back.

Thrifted Chair

Before ... a $10 thrifted chair ... After ... 1 1/2 cans of spray paint and a little cotton batting and fabric and a staple gun later ... I used Alexander Henry's Sunny Side fabric for the seat. I love the contrast of the red, black and white. Can you say oh yeah ??
