Messes

Poor Spenser was supposed to be taking a nap yesterday. Mason dumped all the books, stuffed animals, and (baby) toys from her room into her crib. She had no room to lie down! She was not happy ... neither was I!

I decided to wash my fabric stash yesterday. I have been accumulating this for a few months.


Now it's ready and waiting for me! The fabric on the far end is Amy Butler (which I bought on sale in January/February). The rest is mostly $1-2 a yard stuff that I've picked up, with a few exceptions (the polka dot and some Tracy Porter fabric).

I sewed a couple of things today. I finished my poppy-sheet tote (I ran out of lining). I sewed another bag (for a gift, which totals 4 bags this week with 3 of them gifts). And I attempted another maternity skirt. Notice I attempted it. I'll leave it at that for now. (It's not exactly fitting me. Well, it fits me now, but not for much longer.) Sigh.

Oooooh, look at all the pretty fabric waiting on you...

And if the skirt doesn't fit for much longer, hopefully you can wear it again next year :-)

Reusable Swiffer WetJet Cloths

I promised myself that, when I bought a box of Swiffer WetJet refills at the wholesale club, it would be the last box I bought. Something had to be done. Now, to be honest, part of the reason was to help the environment, but the other part was because I was tired of running out of those darn things. I took some towels, folded them in half cut them into 5" widths. (The towel was just about 25" or so from side to side when flat.) Then I cut two 5" pieces of elastic and serged it all together. Two layers of toweling and two elastic strips. That's it. (The finished piece was approximately 4.75" x 12.") Within minutes I had a stack of eight. Slide them on and mop away. You will have a clean floor and have saved one more thing from ending up in the landfill. Now, if I can just do something about the cleaning liquid ... Something environmentally-friendly, economical, and won't cause further pain to my arthritic back.

Thrifted Chair

Before ... a $10 thrifted chair ... After ... 1 1/2 cans of spray paint and a little cotton batting and fabric and a staple gun later ... I used Alexander Henry's Sunny Side fabric for the seat. I love the contrast of the red, black and white. Can you say oh yeah ??
